Hero MotoCorp's EV arm Vida debuts globally in Nepal with VX2 scooters, Dirt.E K3 e-bike

Hero MotoCorp's electric mobility brand VIDA has launched in Nepal, its first market outside India and the starting point for the brand's international expansion.

The rollout is being run through a distributor partnership with CG Motors, part of the Chaudhary Group, which operates more than 160 companies and 123 brands globally.

Hero MotoCorp first entered Nepal in 2014 and has sold motorcycles and scooters there for over a decade.

The line-up brings two electric scooters, the VIDA VX2 Go and VIDA VX2 Plus, and the VIDA Dirt.E K3, an electric off-road bike built for riders aged 4 to 10. Hero MotoCorp says the VX2 range topped JD Power's Two-Wheeler Initial Quality Study.

Twin Scooters

The VX2 Go costs ₹2,99,900 and runs on a single removable 2.2 kWh battery. Hero MotoCorp claims a real-world range of 75 km, a top speed of 70 km/h, and a 0-40 km/h time of 4.2 seconds.

The VX2 Plus costs ₹3,99,900 and uses two removable 2.2 kWh batteries for a combined 4.4 kWh. Hero MotoCorp says it can handle an 18-degree gradient, useful for Nepal's hilly roads, and claims a real-world range of 140 km, a top speed of 90 km/h, and a 0-40 km/h time of 3.1 seconds.

Both scooters support DC fast charging, going from 0 to 80 percent in around 65 minutes, according to Hero MotoCorp, and their batteries can be removed and charged on a standard 5A home socket.

Both also connect to the My VIDA app, offering navigation, geo-fencing, over-the-air updates, smartphone pairing, and call and SMS alerts.

Kids' Off-Roader

The Dirt.E K3, priced at ₹1,99,900, is aimed at younger riders and adjusts across small, medium and large sizes as a child grows. It runs on a 350W motor and a removable 360Wh battery, giving up to three hours of riding time depending on terrain and mode, with a 20-80 percent charge taking about two hours, per the company.

Parents can control the bike through an app, capping acceleration and locking it to one of three speed modes: 8-9 km/h, 17-18 km/h, or 23-24 km/h. The Dirt.E K3 has won the Red Dot Design Award 2025 and the CES Innovation Award 2026.

Kausalya Nandakumar, Chief Business Officer of Hero MotoCorp's Emerging Mobility Business Unit, called the Nepal launch a defining step in VIDA's global push, adding that the tie-up with CG Motors would give Nepalese customers access to Hero's electric mobility technology.

Nirvana Chaudhary, Managing Director of the Chaudhary Group, said the launch fits with Nepal's growing shift towards sustainable transport, and that the new range, covering both commuters and young riders, would widen the country's electric two-wheeler options while backing its green transition.

Market Rivals

VIDA's entry puts it up against established players in Nepal's electric scooter market, including the TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak Electric, and Ather Rizta, all of which have built a following among city commuters in recent years.

Hero MotoCorp, headquartered in New Delhi, operates across 53 countries in Asia, Africa, Europe, and Central and Latin America, serving more than 130 million customers, and runs eight manufacturing plants, six in India and one each in Colombia and Bangladesh, alongside two R&D centres: the Centre for Innovation and Technology in India and Tech Centre Germany.
