US-Iran War Live Updates: Iran on Tuesday condemned recent US strikes as a sign of “bad faith and unreliability” as talks continued on a possible deal to end the war. Tehran also began restoring internet access after a long nationwide shutdown.
The US military said the strikes in southern Iran targeted missile launch sites and boats allegedly preparing to lay mines. US Central Command called them “self-defence strikes” carried out with “restraint” during the ceasefire.
Iran’s foreign ministry called the attacks a ceasefire violation and warned the US would face responsibility for “all consequences.” It added, “The Islamic Republic of Iran will leave no act of aggression unanswered.”
Iran’s Revolutionary Guard said it shot down a drone and confronted another drone and an F-35 fighter jet in Iranian airspace. Explosions were also reported in Bandar Abbas near the Strait of Hormuz.
Supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei warned regional countries against hosting US military bases, saying they “will no longer serve as a shield” for American forces.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said talks on extending the ceasefire and reopening the Strait of Hormuz could “take a few days.” China urged both sides to respect the truce.
Iranian state TV said Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had left Qatar, where negotiations were being held.
Internet access gradually returned in parts of Iran after restrictions were imposed during the conflict. NetBlocks called it the “longest nationwide internet shutdown in modern history.”
Iran also executed Gholamreza Khani Shakarab after convicting him of spying for Israel’s Mossad.
