What is the story about?
The Starlink India price plans, which were disclosed to the public on Monday, December 8, were not the actual price points, but a "configuration glitch!" Starlink's Vice President of Business Operations Lauren Dreyer wrote on social media platform "X", on Tuesday, December 9.
Dreyer wrote in her post that the Starlink India website is not live yet and that the service pricing for customers in India is not yet announced. The company is not taking orders from customers in India either, Dreyer wrote further.
Elon Musk's Starlink was granted a five-year regulatory permit for conducting business in India in July this year.
As per the pricing disclosed due to the "glitch", the household plan was supposed to cost ₹8,600 per month, and the required hardware kit, including the satellite dish, router and related equipment, was priced at ₹34,000, is what data on the dummy website showed on Monday.
There was also supposed to be a 30-day trial period in addition to unlimited bandwidth for new customers.
According toStarlink's website, the services are ‘weather resilient’ and guarantee more than 99.9% uptime or an uninterrupted internet connection. Users will benefit from ‘plug-and-play’ simplicity, which allows the system to start providing internet access without requiring complicated setups once the hardware is installed.
"We're eager to connect the people of India with Starlink's high-speed internet, and our teams are focused on obtaining final government approvals to turn service (and the website) on," Dreyer wrote in her post.

The
Starlink India website is not live, service pricing for customers in India has not yet been announced, and we are not taking orders from customers in India.
There was a config glitch that briefly made dummy test data visible, but those numbers do not reflect what the cost… https://t.co/TU8cUjcYGL
