India leads consensus-building effort
The breakthrough assumes significance given the differing positions of Iran, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, all of which are members of the BRICS grouping.
PTI reported that the ongoing conflicts and heightened tensions in West Asia had made consensus particularly challenging, with India leading consultations to ensure the differences did not derail the BRICS process.
Reports also highlighted India's efforts to bridge competing positions and said the consensus came despite sharply divergent geopolitical positions among member countries.
