Pope Leo to undergo surgery to remove lung nodule detected at early stage

Leo XIV has said he will undergo surgery in the coming days to remove a small nodule found in his lung during recent medical examinations.

In a social media post, the pope said the nodule was detected at a very early stage and was well-localised. Doctors advised surgery, and he said he had decided to follow their recommendation.

“I thank you for your spiritual closeness and entrust myself to your prayers,” the pope said, seeking prayers ahead of the procedure.
