Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said Tehran and the United Arab Emirates have agreed to put past differences behind them and focus on building ties for the future, signalling a possible thaw in relations between the two countries.
Pezeshkian made the remarks after his visit to India for the BRICS summit, where he met Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on the sidelines of the gathering in New Delhi.
“We had a good conversation with the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, and agreed to put the past behind us and look to the future,” Pezeshkian said, according to a statement posted by the Iranian Embassy in India on X.
He also said he had brief exchanges with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping during his India visit.
“A promising outlook for the expansion of economic cooperation is taking shape,” Pezeshkian said.
