Speaking to Moneycontrol, Trump struck an upbeat tone when asked about the status of trade negotiations between New Delhi and Washington.
The President described Modi as a leader he deeply admires and someone he considers a personal ally.
“I have great respect for your Prime Minister. He’s a fantastic man and a friend of mine. We are going to have a good deal,” Trump said, in what could be seen as progress in bilateral ties after the administration imposed tariffs on India.
Officials from both sides have indicated that discussions are focused on addressing long-standing irritants while expanding cooperation in areas such as manufacturing, critical minerals, defence, and emerging technologies.
