Agra: A 32-year-old woman was brutally murdered by her lover, who allegedly beheaded her, cut off her legs and stuffed her body into a gunny bag before
abandoning it near a bridge over the Yamuna river, police said on Monday. Investigators said the accused had planned to throw the bag into the river but left it on the roadside after passers-by noticed him. Police arrested the accused, Vinay Singh (30). The victim, Minky Sharma, was a resident of Tedhi Bagiya in Agra. She worked as an HR manager at a private company in Sanjay Place, where Vinay was employed as a computer operator. Police said the two had been in a relationship for more than two year. However, frequent arguments broke out after Vinay suspected that Minky had been in contact with another man for the past six months, according to a report by The Times of India.
What happened?
On January 23, Minky left her home around 2 pm, saying she was going to the office. She did not return by evening, and her phone was switched off. Worried family members searched for her and later filed a missing person’s complaint at the Trans Yamuna police station.

Meanwhile, at around 1 am on January 24, local residents noticed a gunny bag lying on Jawahar Bridge in the Etmadullah police station area. They informed the police. When officers opened the bag, they found the headless body of a woman.
Caught on CCTV Cameras
DCP (City) Sayed Ali Abbas formed five police teams to solve the case. CCTV footage showed a man dragging a gunny bag out of an office and riding a scooter towards Jawahar Bridge. The CCTV cameras on MG Road and the highway also caught him travelling on the victim’s scooter. Using the missing complaint and footage from Maruti Plaza, police identified the suspect as Vinay Singh, the media report added.During questioning, Vinay confessed to the crime. He told police that he had called Minky to the office on January 23. After an argument, he attacked her several times with a knife and delivered a fatal blow to her neck. He then cut the body into parts, packed it in a bag and sealed it with parcel tape. He placed her head in a backpack.

Vinay said he took the body to Jawahar Bridge on Minky’s scooter, planning to throw it into the Yamuna. When he failed to lift the bag and noticed people nearby, he left it on the bridge and fled. Later, he disposed of the severed head, Minky’s clothes, her mobile phone and her bag near a drain. He also left the scooter in a deserted area.
Police registered an FIR at the Trans Yamuna police station under Sections 103(1) (murder) and 238 (destruction of evidence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with relevant sections of the Arms Act. Officers recovered the scooter, the knife used in the murder and the victim’s clothes.
DCP Abbas said Vinay wanted to marry Minky, but she had refused. After detailed interrogation, he admitted to killing her. Police have sent him to judicial custody and said they will take the strictest legal action against him.
