Mumbai, Apr 1 (PTI) The Maharashtra cabinet on Wednesday approved an increase in scholarships for the differently-abled students in Classes 8 to 12 after a gap of 12 years.
The hike will be in the range
of Rs 100-200 to Rs 500-1,000 and benefit 92,581 students, said an official.
A fund of Rs 23.11crore has been sanctioned for the hike, he added.
In other decisions, the cabinet approved a provision of Rs 1,234 crore for the Sakalai lift irrigation scheme in Ahilyanagar district, which will benefit around 32 drought-affected villages and irrigate nearly 9,600 hectares of land.
It also cleared the setting up of the Maharashtra State River Rejuvenation Authority to undertake revival projects for 54 polluted river stretches.
The cabinet also decided to allot 16,708 square metres of land to the Amravati Municipal Corporation for a sports complex.
A committee headed by the Chief Secretary will examine issues related to sub-categorisation of reservation for Scheduled Castes.
The cabinet also approved restructuring of posts in the land records department, officials said. PTI MR KRK
