Jaipur, May 13 (PTI) Rajasthan Police has arrested more than 1,600 criminals during a three-day statewide special drive against organised crime, gangsters, illegal arms suppliers and hardcore offenders,
officials said on Wednesday.
The campaign was conducted from May 9 to May 11.
ADG Anti-Gangster Task Force Dinesh MN said that coordinated action was taken across all districts against organised criminals, wanted accused, gangsters, illegal arms traffickers and gang associates.
He said that 1,617 accused were arrested during the campaign.
The police conducted raids at around 605 locations linked to hardcore criminals and arrested 163 accused, while preventive action was initiated against 195 others.
During the drive against wanted criminals, 270 reward-carrying accused were arrested from different parts of the state.
The police also arrested 712 accused from among the top ten criminals identified at the district, circle and police station levels.
In the crackdown on illegal arms, police checked 1,124 suspects and arrested 417 accused. A large quantity of illegal weapons was seized and 121 fresh cases were registered under the Arms Act.
Teams also targeted gangster networks and social media followers linked to criminal gangs. Raids were conducted at locations connected to 139 gang members and associates, leading to the arrest of 55 persons. PTI SDA APL
