Chandigarh, Mar 26 (PTI) The Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission (HERC) has issued the tariff order for 2026-27 for power distribution utilities in Haryana.
As per the order, farmers will continue
to get electricity for tubewell connections at a concessional rate of 10 paise per unit under the Electricity Act, 2003.
The cost of power supply has increased from Rs 7.35 to Rs 7.48 per unit.
Due to this, the state government will provide an additional subsidy of Rs 1,088.61 crore, taking the total subsidy to Rs 7,870.32 crore in 2026-27, up from Rs 6,781.71 crore last year.
Haryana has over 83.79 lakh electricity consumers, including about 7.15 lakh farmers with tubewell connections.
For 2026-27, 10,686.64 million units of electricity have been allocated to the agriculture sector, compared to 9,304.27 million units last year.
The total cost of power supply to farmers is estimated at Rs 7,993.61 crore. Out of this, about Rs 123.30 crore will be recovered from farmers, while the remaining amount will be covered by the state government as a subsidy.
