Kolkata, Apr 5 (PTI) Police on Sunday recovered around Rs 38 lakh in cash from a vehicle in Kolkata’s Tollygunje area, officials said.
The cash was recovered from an SUV stationed near Plywood House More
on N S C Bose Road in Netajinagar area, a senior Kolkata Police officer said.
The seized amount was handed over to the Income Tax Department and the owner of the vehicle, a resident of Alipore area and a businessman, was being interrogated, he said.
The large haul ahead of the assembly polls was being investigated by the police and the Income Tax Department, the officer said.
Elections to the 294-member West Bengal assembly will be held in two phases - on April 23 and April 29. Votes will be counted on May 4. PTI SUS RBT
