New Delhi, Jan 4 (PTI) Drawing on personal tragedy and professional expertise, health coach Karan Sarin tackles India's metabolic health crisis head-on in his debut book, "Sick Nation: Inside India’s lifestyle
disease epidemic and how to fix it", offering a science-backed blueprint for prevention and lasting wellness.
The book, published by Wyzr, exposes the silent crisis of metabolic health -- especially insulin resistance -- and offers a roadmap to prevent the diseases quietly affecting millions.
"It is a part memoir of a family tragedy, part scientific investigation, and part practical playbook for reclaiming your health. In these pages, we will dismantle the myths that have made us sick and replace them with a clear, evidence-based framework for metabolic health that is specifically tailored to the Indian reality.
"This is not just a theory, but a practical guide that you can apply in your daily life," writes the author in the introduction of the book.
Divided into three parts -- the problem, the cause, and the solution -- across 13 chapters, the book draws on hundreds of data-driven self-experiments and extensive research to explain insulin resistance and how the mismatch between our genetic legacy and modern abundance turns our survival mechanisms against us.
Why are lifestyle diseases like diabetes and heart disease reaching epidemic proportions among Indians, despite our best efforts to live healthily? What is the hidden thread quietly driving multiple, seemingly unrelated chronic conditions? These are some of the pressing questions that "Sick Nation" seeks to answer.
"India is currently facing a health paradox where heart disease, diabetes, and fatty liver are striking seemingly healthy people earlier and more severely than ever before. 'Sick Nation' is a groundbreaking new book that finally explains why. It offers a blueprint to shift the conversation from reactively treating illness to proactively protecting health," reads the description of the book.
"Sick Nation", priced at Rs 599, is available for purchase across online and offline stores. PTI MG MG
