Mumbai, Apr 30 (PTI) Amid rising temperatures, as many as 97 mammals, birds and reptiles were rescued from the Mumbai region by Resqink Association for Wildlife Welfare (RAWW) and forest department personnel
in April, officials said.
Mammals like Hanuman langurs, bonnet macaques, rhesus macaques, squirrels and bats; birds like flamingos, parakeets, koels, owls, kites, sparrows, reptiles like lizards and turtles and over 12 species of snakes were rescued from different areas, forest officials said.
Most of these were suffering from dehydration and heat stroke, said Pawan Sharma, Founder and President of RAWW.
The animals will be released back into the wild after rehabilitation, he said. PTI ZA KRK
