Diphu, Mar 24 (PTI) Over 150 people were taken ill in a suspected case of food poisoning after attending a wedding ceremony in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district, an official said on Tuesday.
Two critically
sick persons have been admitted to Diphu Medical College and Hospital here, while the others were undergoing treatment at the local government health facility, he said.
Most of the guests who attended the wedding in Pator Timung village in Bokoliaghat area on Monday started complaining of stomach ache, dysentery and vomiting towards the evening.
“More than 150 people, including children, who had lunch at the wedding ceremony, showed such symptoms when taken to the Bokoliaghat primary health centre on Monday evening,” he said.
“Two of the critically ill, including a child, were referred to Diphu Medical College and Hospital for advanced treatment,” the official said.
The actual cause of the illness is yet to be ascertained, though food poisoning is suspected, he added. PTI CORR SSG SSG RBT
