New Delhi, Apr 26 (PTI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Sikkim and Uttar Pradesh from April 27 to 29 during which he will participate in Sikkim's 50th year of statehood celebrations in Gangtok
and a women conference in Varanasi.
In Uttar Pradesh, the prime minister will also inaugurate the Ganga Expressway in Hardoi, marking a significant milestone in the development of world-class infrastructure in the country, dedicate over 48 completed projects worth more than Rs 1,050 crore and lay the foundation stone of 112 projects worth around Rs 5,300 crore.
Modi will arrive in Gangtok in the afternoon of April 27 and in the early morning next day, he will participate in the closing ceremony of Sikkim's 50th year of statehood celebrations at Paljor Stadium, an official statement said.
In Gangtok, he will inaugurate, launch and lay the foundation stone of multiple development projects worth over Rs 4,000 crore across Sikkim and also address a gathering on the occasion.
The projects span a wide range of sectors, including infrastructure, connectivity, healthcare, education, power, urban development, environment, tourism, and agriculture, and are aimed at accelerating holistic and inclusive development in Sikkim, the statement said.
In the healthcare sector, the prime minister will lay the foundation stone for a 100-bed Ayurveda Hospital at Yangang in Namchi district of Sikkim.
He will also inaugurate a 30-bed Integrated Sowa Rigpa Hospital at NIT Deorali, thereby strengthening access to traditional and integrative systems of medicine in the state, the statement said.
In the education sector, the prime minister will inaugurate the permanent campus of Sikkim University at Yangang, the Administrative Block of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose University of Excellence at Chakung, the Helen Lepcha Medical College at Socheygang in Gangtok district, and the Dentam Professional College at Dentam in Gyalshing district.
Further, Modi will launch the implementation of IT-enabled educational infrastructure projects across 160 schools in Sikkim.
To improve connectivity further in Sikkim, he will lay the foundation stone of two hinged double-lane steel arch bridges over river Teesta at Sirwani and Lower Samdong, connecting Namchi and Gangtok districts.
The visit of the prime minister marks an important milestone in the Golden Jubilee year of Sikkim's statehood and reflects the current government's continued commitment to the rapid and sustainable development of the state and the Northeast region, the statement said.
On April 28, at around 5 pm, Modi will participate in a Mahila Sammelan (women conference) in Varanasi where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of various development projects worth around Rs 6,350 crore.
On April 29, he will perform darshan and pooja at Shri Kashi Vishawanath temple in Varanasi. Thereafter, he will travel to Hardoi and will inaugurate Ganga Expressway.
The key infrastructure projects in UP which will be dedicated by the prime minister include the completion of the Varanasi-Azamgarh Road widening project, the opening of critical Rail Over Bridges at Kazzakpura and Kadipur, and the inauguration of a sewage treatment plant with a capacity of 55 MLD in Bhagwanpur, among others.
Modi will lay the foundation stone of over 112 projects worth around Rs 5,300 crore. These include 13 sewerage and water supply schemes under AMRUT 2.0, a 500-bed multi-superspecialty hospital at Shri Shiv Prasad Gupta Divisional District Hospital, and construction of market complexes and office spaces at Bhojuveer and Sigra.
The other projects are renovation and rejuvenation of ponds, redevelopment of a 198-bed hospital, construction of a 100-bed critical care block, and development of tourism facilities at key ghats including Assi Ghat, Dashashwamedh Ghat, and Namo Ghat, the statement said. PTI ACB KVK
