New Delhi, Jun 2 (PTI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday expressed grief over the loss of lives in an accident in Gujarat's Surat and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh for the families of the deceased
and Rs 50,000 for those injured.
At least five persons were killed and more than 10 injured after two Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) buses collided near Bardoli town in Surat.
"Deeply pained to hear about a mishap in Surat district, Gujarat. My condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. May the injured recover at the earliest. Rescue operations are underway and authorities are providing all possible assistance at the accident site," Modi said in a post on X.
He also announced that an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund would be given to the next of kin of each deceased and the injured would be given Rs 50,000. PTI ACB ZMN
