Mumbai: In a shocking incident in Dadar (West), a 32-year-old law student, social activist, and founder of ChakaChak Dadar, Chandrakant Krishna Kamble, was brutally assaulted late Sunday night in what
appears to be a pre-planned attack. Kamble sustained serious facial injuries after being attacked by local resident Deepak Dinesh Chougule. An FIR has been registered at the Dadar Police Station under Sections 117(2) and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Accused Allegedly Held Grudge Over Past Dispute
According to the complaint, Kamble lives with his mother Shakuntala (60) and sister Kavita (37) at Senapati Bapat Road, Dadar (W). He is currently in his final year of LLB, while his sister works in the private sector to support the family.
The complainant stated that the accused, Deepak Chougule, is the nephew of another resident of the same building. A few months ago, Chougule allegedly had a dispute with mutual friends during a trip. After returning, the argument continued inside the building. Kamble, who was merely standing nearby, was verbally abused and threatened by Chougule without any provocation. Kamble filed an online police complaint at the time, after which Chougule allegedly held a grudge against him.
Victim Attacked Near His Building After Returning Home
On 7 December 2025, around 10:30 pm, Kamble visited a friend’s photography studio in Parel along with two acquaintances. They returned home around 11:45 pm and parted ways near the building.
While Kamble was heading home, Chougule allegedly emerged from Building No. 1 and pushed him toward a duct area from behind. Kamble managed to escape, but the attack intensified. Chougule allegedly pushed him onto a motorcycle, punched him on the nose, and instructed his associates to “bring a rod.” He also shouted, “I will murder you.”
Kamble's cries alerted his mother and friends, who rushed downstairs and took him to Hinduja Hospital.
Doctors Confirm Nasal Fracture, Torn Lip, Broken Tooth
Doctors confirmed that Kamble suffered a torn lower lip, a broken tooth, a nasal fracture from a heavy blow, as well as scratches on his left hand and right ear. Kamble stated that residents panicked and shut their doors during the assault due to the accused’s violent reputation.
He also alleged that Chougule threatened him further, saying he would “teach him a lesson” if he ever approached the police.
FIR Registered; Accused Not Yet Arrested
Based on the complaint, the Dadar Police registered a case against Deepak Chougule under BNS Sections 117(2) and 351(2) for causing grievous injury and issuing death threats. As of now, the accused has not been arrested. Further investigation is underway.
