If asked, most would say eyesight is their most precious part of their body. And they are right. It is not only sensitive but also one of the most treasured senses, as we depend on our eyes to absorb data
around us and develop impressions.
Blindness can be a life-threatening experience. That is why Prevention of Blindness Week, from April 1 to 7, focuses on why people go blind to help stop it. You need to recognise the reasons and seek Ayurvedic help. Many Patanjali products keep your eyes healthy.
Why do we go blind?
In India, a major reason for people to face blindness is cataracts. When your eye’s natural lens gets clouded, you can go blind. Another reason is uncorrected refractive errors, including myopia and hyperopia. Rising cases of diabetes are resulting in diabetic retinopathy that harms the retina’s blood vessels.
Glaucoma is also a leading cause of blindness and causes injury to the optic nerve. Eye injuries, or ocular trauma, happen due to accidents and can lead to eye injury and blindness. When injuries to the cornea occur due to an accident or infection, blindness can result.
Indians face blindness due to low early detection, little to no regular eye check-ups, bad diabetes management, and an inability to access treatment facilities. These are reasons to find simple and holistic solutions within Ayurveda and use relevant Patanjali products for added benefits.
