The Swiss-Indian Chamber of Commerce organised an interaction in Mumbai with the Hon’ble Minister for Industries, Government of Bihar, Dr. Dilip Kumar Jaiswal, to discuss opportunities for Swiss companies
to explore investments in Bihar. The interaction was attended by Mr. Satish Rao, President, Swiss-Indian Chamber of Commerce, members of the SICC Board, and senior officials from the Government of Bihar.
During the interaction, Dr. Jaiswal shared the Government of Bihar’s industrial development vision and outlined the state’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its investment ecosystem. The discussion focused on potential areas where Swiss companies could explore investment opportunities in Bihar, particularly in the context of the India-EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA), and the role such investments could play in supporting industrial growth and employment generation.
Under TEPA, the EFTA countries have committed to invest USD 100 billion in India over the next 15 years, with the potential to generate up to 10 lakh jobs. The meeting explored how Bihar could align with this national framework and present itself as a destination for Swiss enterprises seeking long-term and sustainable investment opportunities in India.
Dr. Jaiswal, Hon’ble Minister for Industries, Government of Bihar, highlighted Bihar’s political stability, improving infrastructure, and the availability of a large workforce. He noted that the state government has put in place policy incentives and facilitative schemes to support businesses looking to establish operations in Bihar, and emphasised the government’s focus on consistency, administrative support, and ease of doing business. He added that Bihar has significant untapped potential and is committed to creating a predictable and supportive environment for industry. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Satish Rao, President, Swiss-Indian Chamber of Commerce, said that Bihar offers meaningful opportunities for Swiss companies seeking to expand their presence in India. He noted that the state’s development priorities and policy direction provide a constructive framework for engagement, and reiterated the Chamber’s role in facilitating structured engagement between Swiss companies and the Government of Bihar to support sustainable investment and employment creation.
