The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Osaka City, Japan, to enhance cooperation on environmental protection and pollution control through the use
of advanced technologies. The agreement covers solid waste management, water and air pollution control, and the reduction of carbon emissions. It was signed in the presence of MPCB Chairman Siddhesh Kadam, Member Secretary M. Devender Singh, and Japan’s Consul General in Mumbai, Koji Yagi-san, along with a senior delegation from Osaka City. Internationally recognised for its success in managing pollution during Japan’s rapid industrialisation, Osaka City provides a proven model of strict regulation, technological innovation and public participation. Under the MoU, Maharashtra will benefit from technology transfer, training programmes and expert exchanges, strengthening environmental governance and supporting sustainable development across the state.
