The calendars were formally released by Vivek Kumar Gupta, General Manager of Western Railway, in the presence of Principal Heads of Departments and Senior Officers at Western Railway Headquarters, Churchgate. According to a press release issued by Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, Vineet Abhishek, the Wall Calendar 2026 celebrates the spirit of “Vande Mataram – 150 Years of National Pride and Glory”, commemorating a century and a half of India’s iconic patriotic song while reflecting Western Railway’s transformative journey. The visually rich calendar highlights Western Railway’s key achievements and infrastructure advancements. Prominent visuals include state-of-the-art trains such as Vande Bharat Express, modern electric locomotives, upgraded railway stations, and enhanced passenger amenities like escalators and improved station architecture. These images collectively portray Western Railway’s commitment to providing safe, efficient, and world-class rail services. Designed in vibrant tricolour hues, the calendar symbolically aligns with India’s national pride while showcasing technological innovation and passenger-centric development.
Rekindling memories of a bygone era while reflecting the enduring legacy of Indian Railways, Vineet Abhishek stated that the Table Calendar 2026, which was also unveiled, is themed “Chugging Through the Pages of History – Locomotives on Pedestal” and serves as a heartfelt tribute to the glorious heritage of Indian Railways. Featuring evocative images of vintage steam locomotives preserved by Western Railway, the calendar reflects the vision, dedication and relentless effort that shaped Indian Railways as a pillar of national progress. As passengers today travel aboard modern trains such as Vande Bharat, Amrit Bharat and Namo Bharat, these timeless steam engines gently take us back to an era when trains moved through fields, towns and cities, echoing with distinctive whistles and symbolising the romance, resilience and enduring spirit of rail travel.
