Mumbai: A 40-year-old motorcyclist lost his life after another bike allegedly hit his two-wheeler from behind in Chembur on Thursday evening. The victim succumbed to his injuries while being taken to the hospital.
The rider of the second bike sustained a leg fracture, a police officer said.
The accident occurred around 5 p.m. near Amar Mahal Junction in Chembur. Mohammed Hanif Amir Shaikh, a resident of Sion, was en route to Thane when his bike was struck from behind by another motorcyclist, Sohail Raffiq Khan, 41, a security guard from Navi Mumbai who was also heading towards Thane. The impact caused both bikes to skid, as reported by Hindustan Times.
Both Shaikh and Khan were seriously injured and rushed to Rajawadi Hospital. Shaikh succumbed on the way to the hospital, while Khan was treated for a leg fracture. According to the report, the police have registered a case against Khan for driving recklessly and negligently.
53-Year-Old Junior Film Artist Succumbs A Day After Road Accident In Goregaon
In a separate news story related to the road accident, a 53-year-old junior artist in the film industry, Ambubai Sonawane, died a day after sustaining serious injuries in a road accident near Goregaon check naka. The mishap occurred on the morning of August 5, when the two-wheeler she was riding pillion on collided with another motorcycle.
According to police reports, Sonawane was returning home after a film shoot at Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari. Around 8:30 am, she met a 29-year-old acquaintance, Shubham Ghatwal, who offered her a lift. As they were travelling through Goregaon East, Ghatwal attempted to overtake a BEST bus. During the manoeuvre, their vehicle crashed into an oncoming two-wheeler, causing Sonawane to fall and suffer severe injuries.
She was initially taken to Seven Hills Hospital in Andheri for first aid. After being briefly brought home, her condition worsened, and she was then shifted to Trauma Care Hospital in Jogeshwari East. Despite medical efforts, she was declared dead during treatment on August 6.
