A mom-vlogger’s candid video from Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer has gone viral, sparking fresh debate over peak-season tourism in the desert city. The content creator, who was travelling with her family during
the ongoing winter rush, urged tourists to reconsider visiting Jaisalmer in January, calling the experience stressful, overcrowded, and overpriced.
In the video, the woman revealed that she had to wait nearly three hours to secure a hotel room due to the massive tourist surge. When she finally managed to get accommodation, she was charged ₹10,000 per night. However, her excitement quickly turned into disappointment after entering the room. Showing the cramped space on camera, she remarked, “Yeh room shuru hote hi khatam ho gaya,” expressing disbelief at the size of the room despite the steep tariff.
She further advised travellers to avoid the peak winter window, especially January, and plan their trips for February instead. “Agar Jaisalmer aana hai toh January mein mat aao. Hum abhi aaye hain aur hum pareshaan ho gaye hain,” she said, describing the overall experience as chaotic.
The video has resonated with several social media users, many of whom shared similar stories of inflated hotel prices, long waiting times, and last-minute accommodation struggles in Jaisalmer. With winter holidays and favourable weather drawing thousands of tourists, hotels across the city are reportedly operating at full capacity, leading to a sharp spike in room rates.
While many users pointed out how booking hotel rooms is important while travelling in peak season.
Tourism officials have acknowledged a significant surge in footfall this season, calling it one of the busiest winter periods for the Golden City in recent years. While the tourism boom has boosted local businesses, it has also raised concerns over price regulation, tourist management, and visitor experience during peak months.
As Jaisalmer continues to remain a top winter destination, travellers are being advised to plan well in advance or consider off-peak periods to avoid similar inconveniences.
