Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is pleased to announce that the redevelopment of Kamakhyaguri Railway Station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS) is now on the verge of completion. Major upgrades
have been carried out, including the construction of a new station building with improved entrance lobby and circulating area. Platforms have been renovated with Kota-stone surfacing, modern signages have been installed and a new 12 meter wide Foot Over Bridge (FOB) with lift facilities has been developed. Passenger amenities such as new waiting halls, enhanced toilet blocks, improved parking space and multiple-theme lighting have also been added. Local art, cultural elements and beautification of the surroundings further contribute to creating a modern, accessible and aesthetically enriched railway station.
Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, a total of 92 stations across Northeast Frontier Railway are being redeveloped in phases. Of these, 50 stations are in Assam, 23 in West Bengal, 9 in Bihar, 4 in Tripura, and 6 in other North-Eastern states (one each), where works are progressing at various stages. The upgrades include enhanced passenger amenities, improved accessibility, revamped circulating areas, modern station façades, and multimodal integration, with the vision of providing safe, convenient and future-ready infrastructure across the region.
With Kamakhyaguri station nearing completion under ABSS, NFR reiterates its commitment towards delivering world-class facilities and modern travel experiences to the people of Northeast India and adjoining states. The ongoing transformations under the scheme mark significant progress toward developing cleaner, safer and more efficient railway stations, aligning with the national vision for a modernized railway network.
