The inaugural Motoring World Green Mobility Awards 2025, organised by Motoring World magazine of the Delhi Press Group, have established India’s rst national, research backed benchmark recognising excellence
across policy, public transport, and EV infrastructure. Backed by leading research institutions such as CEEW and TERI SAS, and supported by industry stalwarts, the Awards celebrate the full spectrum of India’s clean mobility transition — from infrastructure and innovation to policy and real world impact.
The ceremony, hosted at Travancore Palace, New Delhi, was graced by Hon’ble Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport & Highways, as Guest of Honour. Awards were presented by Gadkari, Mr. Paresh Nath (Editor-in-Chief & Publisher, Delhi Press Group), distinguished jury members, and eminent leaders including Mr. Anant Nath (Executive Publisher, Delhi Press Group).
Maharashtra was recognised with four prestigious honours:
• Best State for Two-Wheeler EV Adoption (Gold) — Citation: “With India’s highest two-wheeler volumes, Maharashtra’s EV movement carries unmatched scale — and the numbers speak for themselves. The jury notes Maharashtra’s great absolute numbers, powered largely by its western megacities. In a country where the two-wheeler market is all about volume, Maharashtra naturally takes the lead.”
• Best State for EV Charging Taris (Silver) — Citation: “With low energy costs between ₹4.05 and ₹4.24 per kWh and
a predictable demand charge of ₹70/kVA, Maharashtra o‑ers a tari‑ regime that is balanced, stable, and investor friendly. The jury noted Maharashtra’s strong and steady policy foundation stands out for its reliability and balance.”
• Best State for EV Bus Fleet (Silver) — Citation: “With the second largest electric bus in the country, Maharashtra has successfully deployed e-buses across Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur and more — powered by strong partnerships with leading OEMs. Maharashtra has made signicant strides, earning its place as a national leader.”
• Best State for EV Manufacturing Ecosystem (Silver) — Citation: “With a diversied OEM base and a strong network of Tier1, Tier2 and Tier3 suppliers, Maharashtra has steadily built a solid EV foundation. With its robust export ready infrastructure and growing ecosystem, strategic investments, and strong industrial backbone, Maharashtra is recognised as Silver Winner for EV Manufacturing Ecosystem.”
The awards were received on behalf of the state by Smt. Madhuri Bamble, Assistant Commissioner, Maharashtra Transport, who joined fellow dignitaries and secretaries from across India in ‑ying to New Delhi for this landmark occasion.
The evening was marked not only by the ceremony but also by candid interactions among transport ministers, secretaries, and industry leaders during high tea and dinner. These exchanges created a vibrant atmosphere of collaboration, with states sharing experiences and ideas on scaling clean mobility.
A key highlight of the evening was the panel discussion on “Scaling Clean Mobility: How Can Government, Industry & Academia Collaborate Better?”, moderated by Mr. Pankaj Doval (The Times of India). Featuring leaders from Jio BP Pulse, Hyundai, TERI SAS, CEEW, and policy experts, the discussion surfaced unique and pathbreaking ideas on how India can accelerate its clean mobility transition through cross-sector collaboration.
The Awards are distinguished by their rigorous evaluation process, guided by RTIs across transport and energy departments, data from the Vaahan portal, and research inputs from partner organisations.
By recognising Maharashtra’s achievements, the Motoring World Green Mobility Awards spotlight the state’s leadership in two-wheeler adoption, tari innovation, bus ‑eet electrication, and manufacturing strength. Winners will also be documented in the collectible Green Mobility Report, ensuring their contributions form part of India’s clean mobility legacy.
