IIM Ranchi, in collaboration with the Department of Sports Science and Yoga, Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute (RKMVERI), is organizing a Two-Day Yoga Camp on January 17-18,
2026, at the IIM Ranchi campus. The initiative aims to promote holistic well-being, mindfulness, and stress management among the Institute’s academic community.
The programme commenced with an inauguration ceremony graced by the Chief Guest, Swami Atmapriyananda, Pro-Chancellor, Ramakrishna Mission; Swami Vidyapradananda, Assistant Professor, Department of Sports Science and Yoga, RKMVERI; and Prof. Deepak Kumar Srivastava, Director, IIM Ranchi. The ceremony began with the felicitation of the dignitaries, followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, symbolising the beginning of a journey centred on awareness, peace, and inner balance.
Addressing the gathering, Swami Vidyapradananda outlined the purpose and structure of the two-day camp and introduced the sessions planned as part of the programme. He explained how the activities were designed to help participants appreciate the role of yoga in fostering calmness of mind, clarity of thought, and overall well-being, thereby setting a reflective and welcoming tone for the camp.
This was followed by an address by Swami Atmapriyananda, who spoke on the enduring relevance of yoga and its role in cultivating purity, patience, and perseverance. Drawing references from thinkers such as Churchill, Shakespeare, and Swami Vivekananda, he emphasised the timeless nature of these values and the importance of remaining connected to them in contemporary life. He also highlighted the need for harmony between human beings, nature, and the environment, explaining how peace of mind contributes to joy and a meaningful sense of living. Concepts such as emotional intelligence, observation power, and control of the senses were discussed as essential elements of a balanced life. He further elaborated on the idea of MAFA - mistaking activities for accomplishments - encouraging students to value the learning process and the journey rather than focusing solely on outcomes. The recitation of the Shanti Path created a deeply reflective moment, enabling participants to engage more profoundly with the essence of peace and mindfulness.
The inauguration also featured an engaging interaction session titled “Wisdom Insight” between the Chief Guest and the Director, IIM Ranchi. The discussion focused on the continued relevance of yoga in the modern world and the importance of maintaining balance during the MBA journey and in future leadership roles. The ceremony concluded with the presentation of tokens of gratitude to the guests and the Director, followed by a yoga demonstration session by the RKMVERI students, that offered students a practical introduction to the activities planned for the camp.
Over the course of the two days, experts, trainers, and students from RKMVERI will conduct multiple yoga practice sessions, meditation sessions, and stress management sessions for the IIM Ranchi community, reinforcing the Institute’s commitment to nurturing holistic development alongside academic excellence.
