An
explosion in a car was reported near the Red Fort in New Delhi on Monday, prompting an immediate security response in the area.
"A call was received regarding an explosion in a car near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station, after which three to four vehicles also caught fire and sustained damage," ANI quoted Delhi Fire Department.
According to ANI, a total of 7 fire tenders have reached the spot. A team from the Delhi Police Special Cell has also reached the spot.
High alert has been sounded in the national capital following the explosion.
Multiple casualties have been brought to the LNJP hospital due to the blast near Gate No 1 of Red Fort Metro Station, ANI reported quoting sources.
Ambulances are being rushed to the blast site near Red Fort in Delhi.
A video from the incident site has been surfaced. In the video, the car parts seen strewn around due to the force of the blast.
"Fifteen people have been brought to Lok Nayak Hospital. Eight of them died before reaching the hospital. Three are seriously injured. One is in stable condition," Medical Superintendent, Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) Hospital told ANI.
