IndiGo on Saturday issued a travel advisory for passengers travelling through Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, citing a temporary
malfunction in the baggage belt system at Terminal Two that could lead to longer wait times at check-in counters and baggage collection areas. The airline said it is coordinating closely with airport authorities to resolve the issue at the earliest and minimise inconvenience to passengers. IndiGo also assured travellers that ground teams are actively managing the situation to ensure smoother operations. In a post shared on social media platform X, the airline acknowledged the disruption and expressed regret for the inconvenience caused. IndiGo said its teams are stationed at the airport and working swiftly with airport partners to restore normal operations while assisting affected customers. “We sincerely regret the inconvenience this may cause and understand how it can impact your plans. Our teams are on-site, working swiftly with airport partners to expedite the resolution and support customers throughout the process,” the airline said. In a separate advisory earlier this week, IndiGo also cautioned passengers about possible flight delays and disruptions at Bengaluru airport due to dense fog and low visibility conditions. The airline said adverse weather had impacted flight schedules and that it was closely monitoring the situation to ensure passenger safety. “Low visibility and fog over Bengaluru has impacted flight schedules. We’re keeping a close watch on the weather and doing our best to get you where you need to be, safely and smoothly,” the airline stated. Passengers were advised to regularly check their flight status through IndiGo’s official communication channels and remain prepared for potential delays. The airline reiterated that support teams are available at airports to assist travellers during weather-related disruptions. Despite these operational challenges, IndiGo recently reaffirmed its preparedness for the ongoing holiday travel rush. Earlier this week, the airline said it has been maintaining operational stability while handling high passenger volumes across its network. According to the airline, IndiGo has been operating between 2100 and 2200 flights daily and carrying more than 1 million passengers every three days. It currently serves 138 operational destinations while maintaining its on-time performance standards. Looking ahead, the airline also highlighted upcoming expansion plans. An IndiGo spokesperson said the carrier is preparing to induct its first Airbus A321XLR aircraft, which is expected to enhance medium- and long-haul connectivity. The airline has already announced plans to deploy the aircraft on international routes, including direct flights connecting Delhi and Mumbai with Athens from January 23, 2026.
