Akasa Air on Tuesday launched a new booking feature called 'Lock Your Fare', giving passengers the option to retain ticket prices for a specific period
before confirming their purchase. The service is available exclusively through the airline's website and mobile app for a small fee and is designed to give passengers more control in planning their travel, the company said in a press release. According to the press release, passengers can lock in fare options seven days before the scheduled departure, and there is also the possibility to hold the fare for up to 15 days. This is for domestic flights. For international routes, the fare-lock feature is available up to 15 days before departure, with the option to hold the fare for up to seven days. "This launch underscores Akasa Air's commitment to delivering meaningful, customer-centric solutions and making air travel accessible and affordable," the company said in the release. "With 'Lock Your Fare', customers are protected from fare hikes, ensuring that they can secure the best pricing available with the convenience of completing their purchase at their own pace," it reads. It aims to protect travellers from sudden fare hikes, a common concern for those planning vacations, business trips or group travel that requires coordination. By offering extra time before completing a purchase, Akasa is positioning the tool as a way to make air travel decisions with less urgency and more flexibility.
