Orange alert for several districts
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for several districts, including Pune, Raigad, Ahmednagar, Beed, and Latur, warning of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms, while Mumbai, Thane are under a yellow alert.According to IMD Mumbai, these areas are likely to witness moderate to intense rain, strong winds and thunderstorms.
Heavy downpour expected in Maharashtra
The weather department on Sunday has issued a heavy rain warning for parts of Maharashtra for this week.
"Light to moderate rain/thunderstorm at many/some places with isolated heavy rainfall likely over Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra & Marathawada on 16th September with very heavy falls over Konkan & Goa Madhya, Maharashtra & Marathawada 14th & 15th September," the IMD said.
Late night rains in Pune led to waterlogging in the city and many residents took to microblogging website X demanding closure of schools and colleges.
