The Maharashtra government has approved financial assistance of ₹164.83 crore for farmers affected by unseasonal rains in March 2026.
In a post on X on Monday (May 18), the Maharashtra Directorate General of Information and Public Relations (DGIPR) said the Revenue and Forest Department issued a government resolution regarding compensation for crop damage caused by unseasonal rainfall during the period.
According to the government resolution, the approved assistance amount stands at ₹1,64,83,44,000.
The relief package is aimed at supporting farmers who suffered losses due to untimely rains across various parts of the state during March this year.
The Maharashtra government has issued the official resolution detailing the allocation and disbursement of funds for the affected farmers.
The latest relief announcement comes against the backdrop of the Maharashtra government’s broader push to ease agrarian distress earlier this year.

Presenting the 2026-27 state Budget in March, Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis announced a major farm relief package, including a crop loan waiver of up to ₹2 lakh for farmers with pending dues till September 30, 2025.
Under the scheme, farmers with outstanding crop loans of up to ₹2 lakh are eligible for a complete waiver, while those who repaid loans on time will receive incentives of up to ₹50,000. The state government had said the programme could benefit tens of lakhs of farmers across Maharashtra.
Alongside the loan waiver, the government also earmarked ₹20,000 crore to waive electricity bills for farmers using water pumps of up to 7.5 horsepower to reduce input costs and ease pressure on rural households.
The farm-focused measures formed a key part of Maharashtra’s ₹7.69 lakh crore Budget for FY27, which placed significant emphasis on rural relief, infrastructure spending and long-term economic growth.
