The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast an active monsoon phase over large parts of the country during the next seven days, with widespread rainfall across northwest, central and eastern India.
West Madhya Pradesh is likely to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall with isolated extremely heavy showers on Saturday, July 4, while several states are expected to receive heavy rain through the week.
In northwest India, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall is likely over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad and Uttarakhand from July 4 to 10, and over Himachal Pradesh from July 5 to 10.
Haryana, Chandigarh,Delhi and Punjab are expected to receive widespread rainfall between July 6 and 8, while east Rajasthan is likely to witness widespread rain throughout the forecast period. West Uttar Pradesh is expected to receive widespread rainfall from July 8 to 10 and east Uttar Pradesh from July 7 to 10.
Isolated to scattered rainfall is likely over several parts of the region during the remaining days. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching 40-50 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph, are likely over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad throughout July 4 to 10.
Similar conditions are expected over Rajasthan, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Punjab during the same period, while Uttarakhand is likely to witness isolated thunderstorms and lightning through the week.
