The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday, December 15, filed a chargesheet against the seven accused in the Pahalgam terror attack that killed
26 people.
The NIA's chargesheet includes the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist organisation and its proxy group The Resistance Front (TRF), which had claimed responsibility for the April 22 attack, as per ANI.
NIA filed a 1,597-page chargesheet before the NIA Special Court in Jammu and named the three Pakistani terrorists identified as Faisal Jatt alias Suleman Shah, Habeeb Tahir alias Jibran, and Hamza Afghani, who were also killed by the Indian security forces during Operation Mahadev in Srinagar's Dachigam in July 2025.
Pakistani handler terrorist Sajid Jatt is also named as an accused. The chargesheet detailed Pakistan's conspiracy, roles of the accused, and submitted supporting evidence in the case, as per ANI.
Parvaiz Ahmad and Bashir Ahmad Jothatd, the two accused who were arrested by the NIA on June 22, 2025 for harbouring terrorists, have also been chargesheeted.
During the interrogation, the two men had disclosed the identities of the three armed terrorists involved in the attack, and had also confirmed that they were Pakistani nationals affiliated with the proscribed LeT terror outfit.
The LeT/TRF, as well as the four terrorists, have been charged under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, the Arms Act, 1959, and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, the central agency said in a statement, as per ANI.
In its chargesheet, NIA has also invoked the penal section against the accused for waging war against India.
On April 22, 2025, three terrorists had gunned down 26 people, mostly tourists, in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam.
