Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat has been given additional responsibility as the Maharashtra Governor as CP Radhakrishnan demitted office on Thursday, September 11.
President Droupadi Murmu appointed
Devvrat to discharge the duties of the Governor of Maharashtra, in addition to his own responsibilities, as per a statement by the President's office.
"Consequent upon demitting the office of Governor of Maharashtra by C P Radhakrishnan due to his election as the Vice-President of India, the President of India has appointed Acharya Devvrat, Governor of Gujarat, to discharge the functions of the Governor of Maharashtra, in addition to his own duties," the communique by the President's office said on September 11.
Radhakrishnan to take oath as new VP
Radhakrishnan won the Vice-Presidential election on Tuesday, September 9, and is expected to take the oath as the new Vice President of India on Friday, September 12.

Previously, he held the office of the Governor of Maharashtra.
Radhakrishnan was the ruling-NDA's candidate for the Vice President's post and won by a margin of 152 votes, against INDIA bloc candidate B Sudershan

The VP elections were held on September 9, after former VP Jagdeep Dhankhar had resigned from the post on July 21, citing health reasons.
