The Met Office issued a yellow alert in other parts of the country, including Odisha, Uttarakhand and north eastern states for dense fog.
Dense fog predicted for UP, Bihar
Dense to very dense fog conditions are expected during night/morning hours in isolated pockets of Assam until December 28 and Himachal Pradesh until December 31.
The IMD also predicted dense fog for isolated pockets of Arunachal Pradesh until December 30, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and Odisha until December 31, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim until December 29, and Uttarakhand until December 31.

Dense to very dense fog conditions are also likely in parts of Bihar until December 29, followed by dense fog in isolated pockets for four days, and in parts of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh until December 30, followed by isolated pockets for two days. Dense to very dense fog is very likely in some/many parts of Uttar Pradesh until January 1, 2026.

Yellow alert for Delhi
The Met Office issued a yellow alert for moderate to dense fog across the national capital for two days, predicting moderate to dense fog during morning hours on Saturday and Sunday.
Delhi's air quality has deteriorated, returning to the 'Very Poor' category, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) topping 300 in numerous regions.

Cold wave in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh
Cold wave conditions are expected in isolated pockets of north Rajasthan on December 28 and Jharkhand on December 28 and 29. Cold to severe cold day conditions are very likely at a few places over east Uttar Pradesh on December 27.
Meanwhile, cold day conditions are also anticipated in isolated pockets over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal on December 27, Bihar from December 27 to 31, Uttarakhand from December 26 to 29, west Uttar Pradesh on December 27, and east Uttar Pradesh on December 29.

Rain likely in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand
Isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall or snowfall is anticipated across several northern regions, specifically over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan and Muzaffarabad on December 27 and again from December 29 to January 1.
Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are also expected to see similar isolated to scattered light/moderate rainfall/snowfall conditions on December 27, 30, and 31.
In the south, the Andaman & Nicobar Islands are likely to experience isolated thunderstorms and lightning, accompanied by gusty winds of 30-40 kmph, during the period of December 27 through December 30.
