Flight operations at Leh airport were temporarily suspended on Monday (January 5) morning due to heavy snowfall in the region, affecting both arrivals
and departures.
Airlines including Indigo and Spicejet have issued advisory, warning passengers of extended wait times for travellers, both on board aircraft and at the airport.
IMD reported that Leh’s temperature dipped to –9.6°C on Monday with 0.6 cm of snowfall in the past 24 hours.

Indigo said they are closely monitoring weather conditions and will resume operations as soon as it is safe to do so. Passengers were also advised to check the latest status of their flights with options to rebook or get a refund.
The airlines also alerted passengers that fog and low visibility could impact flight operations in other cities including Bhopal and Udaipur. Similar advisory was issued for other cities like Hyderabad, Ranchi, Agartala, Dehradun, Guwahati and Bhubaneswar the previous day.
