A patient was allegedly assaulted by a doctor at Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla, on Sunday, December 21, triggering protests by the patient’s
attendants outside the hospital premises.
The attendants claimed that the incident was captured on video within the hospital and that the footage later went viral on social media.
The patient, a resident of a village in the Kupvi subdivision of Shimla district, had visited IGMC after suffering from breathing difficulties. He alleged that the doctor spoke to him rudely upon his arrival and assaulted him when he requested the doctor to speak respectfully, according to a report by The Tribune.

Following the alleged assault, the patient’s attendants staged a protest outside the hospital, raising slogans and demanding strict action, including the suspension of the accused doctor.
Hospital authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident.
