What is the story about?
The Noida district administration has initiated a door-to-door campaign to accelerate compensation to farmers affected by the expansion of Jewar International Airport.
The move streamlines the process by eliminating delays that earlier stretched payouts to nearly a week.
Camps across 14 villages to speed up process
Starting April 3, special camps are being organised daily across 14 villages in Jewar, including Thora, Neemka Shahjahanpur, Khwajpur, Ramner, and Kishorepur, among others. The initiative will continue until all affected farmers are covered.
The drive pertains to land acquisition spanning 1,838 hectares under Phases 3 and 4 of the airport project.
Revised compensation rates
Farmers are being compensated at a revised rate of ₹4,300 per square metre, along with applicable interest. The rate was increased from ₹3,100 per sqm following a decision by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who approved a ₹1,200 per sqm hike, acknowledging farmers’ contribution to the
airport project.
Camps launched to streamline paperwork and speed up compensation
According to a report in the Economic Times, District Magistrate Medha Roopam said: “Compensation distribution for acquired land will be carried out with complete transparency and speed through these camps," the DM said.
Simplified one-day verification system
Each camp is staffed with key revenue officials, including a revenue inspector, lekhpal (village accountant) and amin (village surveyor). Farmers can submit documents on-site, with verification and file processing completed the same day.

Earlier, the process involved multiple administrative levels and took five to seven days. Now, according to Jewar SDM Durgesh Singh, the entire procedure has been streamlined into a single-day exercise.
“In the previous phase of land compensation disbursal, the farmers would submit their files to the lekhpal, who would then forward them to the amin, who would attach the land survey documents and then forward them to the SDM, who would then sign them and then the file would be sent to the ADM (land acquisition). Through these camps, all this process will be completed in one day," Singh added.
Phase-wise progress of compensation
Authorities confirmed that compensation for Phase 2 has already been completed. Currently, payouts are underway for farmers from seven villages where 189 hectares are being acquired for a rehabilitation colony.
Around 1,080 families are being compensated under this phase. Once completed, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) will begin development of the resettlement colony.
The ongoing camps primarily target Phases 3 and 4, covering nearly 16,000 farmer families.
Compensation disbursal so far
As of September 2025, YEIDA had distributed over ₹8,000 crore to approximately 7,000 farmers for land acquired in the first two phases.
