Suspended services
According to an order issued by the Home Affairs Department on May 29, mobile internet services across 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G networks have been suspended in the affected area. Bulk SMS services and internet dongle services have also been temporarily blocked.
However, voice calls will continue to function normally. The government has also exempted individual SMS services, banking-related messages, mobile recharge alerts, and internet services provided through broadband and leased lines to homes and businesses, the report added.
The decision to suspend the services was taken following inputs from ADGP (Additional Director General of Police)/CID Haryana and the Deputy Commissioner, Faridabad.

In order to stop the spread of misinformation and rumours through various social media platforms, such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc., on mobile phones and SMS for facilitation and mobilisation of mobs of agitators and demonstrators who can cause serious loss of life and damage to public and private properties by indulging in arson or vandalism and other types of violent activities," as per the order signed by Additional Secretary Home Vandana Disodia.
Restrictions limited to specific area
The government clarified that the suspension is limited to a one-kilometre radius around the notified location in the NIT Zone and has been imposed only as an emergency measure.

Major demolition drive
Meanwhile, the Faridabad administration carried out a large-scale demolition drive early Saturday morning in the NIT area, IANS reported. The operation began at around 4 am, with authorities removing several structures that were illegally constructed. Among the structures demolished was a mosque spread over nearly 700 square yards at Masjid Chowk in NIT-3. Two temples were also demolished during the drive.
