Court Bans Photos in High Security Zone

The Supreme Court has issued a ban on photography, videography, and the creation of social media reels within its main premises, which has been designated as a high-security zone.

In a circular dated

September 10, the apex court instructed that media interviews and live news broadcasts be restricted to the designated lawn area, classified as a low security zone.

"Use of mobile phones for photography and videography is prohibited in the lawn of the High Security Zone. Equipment like cameras, tripods, and selfie sticks will also be restricted in this area, except for official use," the circular stated.

The order warned of consequences for violations. Advocates, litigants, interns, or law clerks found

breaching the guidelines may face disciplinary action from the relevant Bar Association or State Bar Council. Media personnel violating the rules may have their access to the high security zone suspended for up to a month.

Any infractions by court staff or registry members will be treated with "seriousness", and the respective departments will be requested to initiate disciplinary proceedings. Additionally, security personnel have been empowered to disallow any individual from taking photographs or videos within the restricted zone.
