The floods swept the brass idol of Lord Shiva from the Tapkeshwar Mahadev temple as it was inundated with water.

The bridge built by the Gorkha Regiment in 1962, connecting Mata Vaishno Devi Cave Yoga Mandir and Santoshi Mata Mandir, was also washed away. The connection between Veerpur and the rear part of the Army area was cut off.

Heavy damage was reported in the Karligarh area.
Teams of SDRF, NDRF, and PWD (Public Works Department) were engaged in relief and rescue work on the spot.

A resident said, "Around 11 pm, we heard a sound as if a mountain had fallen. In the morning, we got to know that our house had also been washed away. We took out as much stuff as we could from our house, but then the mountain behind our house collapsed, and three people got buried under it. Somehow we saved ourselves."

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inspected the region. He said all the rivers int he state were in spate and cloudburst has occurred in many places. Roads have been completely washed away at about 25-30 places. Houses have suffered a lot and government properties have been damaged. The water level of the rivers has also increased a lot, he added.
This is the second cloudburst in about a month. The last one was in early in the Dharali area of the Uttarkashi followed by devastating flash floods and landslides that destroyed homes, hotels, and homestays.
