A Delhi-bound Indigo flight from Mumbai reportedly received a bomb threat on Tuesday (September 30) morning with around 200 people on board.
"Following
the established protocol, we informed the relevant authorities immediately and fully cooperated with them in carrying out the necessary security checks before the aircraft was cleared for operations," the airline's spokesperson told PTI.
A source also told the news agency that a full emergency was declared for the Indigo flight 6E 762. It later landed in Delhi at around 7.53 am.
"We have made all efforts to minimise inconvenience to our customers including offering them refreshments and sharing regular updates," the IndiGo spokesperson said.
The development comes amid rising cases of bomb threats in public places in the last few months.
Just yesterday, the Ahmedabad airport received a bomb threat on email. It later turned out to be a hoax mail sent to several other airports and government and private establishment, according to Ahmedabad Airport Police Station.
"Message to administrators of airports and schools..bombs have been placed around your buildings and you have 24 hours to react, or face the blood pool..I am the leader of a terror group," the threat mail read. Airport officials has since filed a police complain and a First Information Report (FIR).
"Based on a complaint given by the airport management, we registered the FIR against the unidentified person on Sunday night. The threat, which was sent through an email, was a hoax and it was sent to many other airports and establishments by the unknown sender on Sunday," inspector ND Nakum told PTI.
These incidents also comes on the heels of a series of similar bomb threats reported from over 300 schools and institutes in Delhi and several airports on Sunday morning which were later established to be hoax.
