Ahead of the New Year celebrations, the Delhi Traffic Police issued a traffic advisory announcing restrictions, diversions and special parking arrangements in Connaught Place and adjoining areas. As per the advisory, the restrictions will be in place from 7 pm on December 31 until the conclusion of New Year celebrations.
"In anticipation of heavy crowds in Connaught Place and surrounding areas on the occasion of New Year–2026, the Delhi Traffic Police has made special traffic arrangements," it said on X.

Based on the official notification from the Commissioner of Police, Manoj Kumar Verma, traffic in Kolkata will be strictly regulated for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day to ensure public safety. "Movement of goods vehicles will also be regulated within the city of Kolkata as and where considered necessary by the Traffic Police on duty on 31.12.2025 and 01.01.2026," the statement read.

The Greater Chennai Traffic Police (GCTP) has also issued advisory for the 2026 New Year's Eve celebrations. Sharing the advisory on X, it wrote, "Mass gatherings expected at Marina & Elliot Beach. Chandigarh
In order to ensure public safety, security, and a seamless celebration on New Year's Eve 2026, the Chandigarh Traffic Police has announced vehicle restrictions and enhanced enforcement actions in key areas. As per the official notification, some busy market roads and public spaces will be designated 'Restricted Vehicle Zones' on December 31, 2025, from 9.30 pm to 2 am.
The restricted stretches include the inner market roads of Sectors 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11; the road in front of Leisure Valley in Sector 10; the inner roads of Sectors 17 and 22; the stretch from Aroma Light Point to Small Chowk near the Sector 22 dispensary; and the areas surrounding Elante Mall in Industrial Area Phase 1.

For the New Year celebrations, the Adugodi Traffic Police have announced specific restrictions and diversions for the YD Mutt Road area in Koramangala from 5:00 PM on December 31 to 2 am on January 1, 2026. Vehicle movement is temporarily prohibited from Sukhasagar Junction to Microland Junction on YD Math Road in Koramangala and on the side roads connecting to YD Mutt Road, like JNC Road, 4th B Cross Road, Tonic Back Road, 17th H Main Road.

As the city prepares for the New Year celebrations, more than 17,000 police officers have been deployed in Mumbai to maintain law and order. Large crowds are expected at the Gateway of India, Marine Drive, Girgaon Chowpatty, Bandra Bandstand, and Juhu and Versova beaches beginning Wednesday evening, with celebrations in hotels, restaurants, and stores lasting until early Thursday morning. The Metro Line 3 (Aqua Line) will run extended services from 10.30 pm on December 31 until 5.55 am on January 1.

To manage the expected rise in traffic during the year-end celebrations, the Goa traffic police have announced several road closures, one-way diversions, and parking prohibitions in major tourist destinations.
In a statement, the Traffic Police said, “In view of the peak tourist season, the frequency of tourist vehicle entering Calangute has surged many folds thereby congesting the internal roads in VP Calangute jurisdiction.
