Heavy Rain Expected in Northeast, Konkan, Goa

• Heavy rain forecast for Northeast India, Maharashtra until Sept 17.
• Monsoon withdrawal expected in parts of Rajasthan, Punjab, Gujarat.
• South & Central India: Moderate rain, heavy falls in some areas till Sept 20.

The India Meteorological Department said heavy to very heavy rainfall over the northeastern states and Maharashtra till September 17. It has predicted moderate rain at many places with isolated heavy rainfall likely over
Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura today.

The weather department said light to moderate rain at many places with isolated heavy rainfall likely over Konkan, Goa, central Maharashtra and Marathawada on September 16. Very heavy falls are expected in the region today.

It said conditions are favourable for the withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon from some more parts of Rajasthan and some parts of Punjab and Gujarat during the next two days.

In South peninsular

region, moderate rain at many places with isolated heavy rainfall is expected over Tamil Nadu during September 16 to 19, Telangana and north interior Karnataka till September 16.

In East and Central region, moderate showers are expected at many places with isolated heavy rainfall likely over West Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha till September 16; Andaman and Nicobar Islands from September 17 to 19; Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Jharkhand till September 18.

In the Northwest region, moderate rain is

expected at isolated places with isolated heavy rainfall likely over Uttarakhand till September 16; East Uttar Pradesh till September 20.
