The Uttarakhand government on Monday (September 1) postponed the Char Dham Yatra and Hemkund Sahib Yatra pilgrimages as many parts of the state remained under red and orange alerts for heavy rainfall.
The pilgrimages were postponed till September 5, Vinay Shankar Pandey, Secretary to the state's Chief Minister told ANI.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami ordered officials to remain alert of any emergency help that may arise due to flooding and waterlogging after the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted heavy rains for the next two days, PTI reported.

The Central government expressed solidarity on Sunday, and formed Inter-Ministerial Central Teams (IMCTs) to assess impact and relief work on the ground.
Post this, it can move forward to offer financial assistance to the affected states from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF), according to government procedures.
