What is the story about?
The Uttar Pradesh police have arrested a woman and her lover for allegedly murdering her husband, dismembering his body, and dumping the parts at multiple locations in Sambhal district.
The gruesome case came to light on December 15 when locals near the Idgah on Patraua Road in Chandausi found polythene bags containing body parts and alerted the authorities.
When the police opened the bags, they found the body had been severely dismembered, with the head, hands, and legs missing.
"The body was taken into custody, and a post-mortem was conducted. The forensic team carried out a detailed examination, and DNA samples were collected," said SP KK Bishnoi.
The victim was later identified as Rahul, a shoe trader from Mohalla Chunni, after investigators noticed his name engraved on one of the severed arms.
Ruby, who lives in Mohalla Chunni, filed a missing person complaint on November 18, saying her husband Rahul had gone missing. The police got a major clue when they noticed the name ‘Rahul’ engraved on one of the arms.
Using this, they confirmed the identity of the victim, a shoe trader from Chunni locality. Ruby was summoned, and during questioning, authorities discovered various discrepancies in her statements, which sparked suspicion and led her arrest and a more thorough investigation.
Police pieced together everything using phone logs, CCTV footage, and other technical evidence.
According to the SP, Ruby admitted after questioning that she killed her husband with the assistance of her lover Gaurav, when Rahul discovered they were having an extra-marital affair.
During the search, they recovered several items, including a cot leg, a scooter, a bag, a toilet brush, an iron rod, and an electric heater. Police said the accused told investigators that they attacked Rahul using an iron rod and an iron pestle.
After killing him, they allegedly brought a cutter and cut the body into several pieces. According to police, one part of the body was dumped in a drain, and the remaining body parts were taken to Rajghat and thrown into the Ganges.
Police have since recovered the cutter that was allegedly used to cut the body, along with an iron hammer and other tools.
Police said Rahul and Ruby had been married for 15 years and had two children, a 12-year-old son and a 10-year-old daughter. The daughter's statement became very important for the investigation.
She reported to the police that three people frequently came to their home, sometimes giving her chocolates, and that her parents frequently got into arguments.
The accused have been arrested, and the case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
