India's First Bullet Train to Launch in 2027

• India's 1st bullet train, Mumbai-Ahmedabad, aims for 2027 launch.

• Japan is a key partner; PM Modi to meet Ishiba at India-Japan summit.

India’s first bullet train is expected to be operational along the Mumbai-Ahmedabad route in 2027, with the Railway Ministry sharing images of a station under construction in Gujarat.

The train will

be India's fastest yet, covering a distance of 508 km between Mumbai and Ahmedabad in two hours and seven minutes at 308 km per hour.

The Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail corridor will begin from the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) in Maharashtra and end at Sabarmati. It will have stops in 10 cities, including Thane, Virar, Boisar, Vapi, Bilimora, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, Anand, and Ahmedabad, and will terminate at Sabarmati.

The Railway Ministry on Thursday (August 28) posted a few pictures of a station

under construction in Gujarat. "With modern design, cultural identity, seamless connectivity and eco-friendly features, the stations will redefine passenger comfort and set new benchmarks in travel," the ministry wrote.

'We will have a train running on that corridor by 2027'

“Japan has been an important partner in infrastructure projects, especially in the railway sector. All I can tell you is we will have a train running on that corridor by 2027. I stand by what I said," Sibi George, India's Ambassador to Japan said in an interview

with News18.

His comments came ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's two-day visit to Japan, where he will take part in the 15th India-Japan Annual Summit. PM Modi will also meet his Japanese counterpart Shigeru Ishiba for the first time since Ishiba came to power in October 2024.
