Delhi Airport Restricts Flights on August 15

Non-scheduled flights will not be allowed to land or take off from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport during specific hours on August 15, officials said on Wednesday (August 13).

The

restrictions will be in place from 6 am to 10 am and 4 pm to 7 pm on Independence Day. They will apply to chartered services and non-scheduled flights of scheduled airlines.

An official clarified that scheduled commercial flights will operate as usual. Aircraft operated by the Indian Air Force, Border Security Force, and Army aviation helicopters are also exempted from the curbs.

Other exemptions include state-owned aircraft and helicopters carrying a Governor or Chief Minister, flights on quick-response

missions, and those conducting urgent medical evacuations.

The Aeronautical Information Services (AIS) of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) regarding the restrictions. A NOTAM is a standard communication used to convey essential operational information to flight crews.

Delhi airport, the country’s busiest, handles around 1,300 flight movements daily.
