Stars Support Punjab Flood Relief Efforts

Punjab is reeling under massive floods triggered by the swollen Sutlej, Beas, and Ravi rivers, along with seasonal rivulets overflowing due to heavy rainfall in their catchment areas across Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir.

The worst-affected districts include Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Fazilka, Kapurthala, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Hoshiarpur, and Amritsar, where villages have been inundated. In view of the situation, the Punjab government on Monday ordered the closure of all colleges, universities, and polytechnic institutes across the state till September 3.

As images and videos of devastation continue to pour in, celebrities, actors and cricketers have appealed for solidarity and pledged support to affected families.

Bollywood actor Sonu Sood posted on X, “I stand with Punjab. Anyone affected by these devastating floods is not alone. Together, we will help every single person get back on their feet. Punjab is my soul. Even if it takes everything, I will not back down. We are Punjabis — and we do not give up.”

Singer and actor Ammy Virk said, “Seeing our people without a roof over their heads has left me devastated. In our small effort to bring comfort and stability, we are adopting 200 houses to support those who have lost everything.”

Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh also shared his anguish, posting, “Punjab is my home and my soul. Watching the devastation of these floods has been deeply painful. Families have lost loved ones, homes, and hope. Please know you are not alone; we stand with you, and I will do everything I can to support those affected. Together, we will rebuild lives and bring back hope.”

Actor Sanjay Dutt expressed solidarity, writing, “The devastation caused by the floods in Punjab is truly

The appeals come at a time when thousands of families remain displaced and restoration efforts are being hampered by

continuous rainfall. Authorities have urged citizens in vulnerable areas to move to safer locations, while relief camps are being set up in multiple districts.
